This change has been long coming, but I delayed pulling the trigger on this out of respect to NDV's seniority in the role. This change is mostly symbolic and doesn't really change much other than recognizing officially all the hard work Erik has been putting into the survival server. It also kinda enables Erik more to make some key decisions faster and move the server forward faster. Of course this means Erik will have to communicate his vision for the server more (*wink*) and keep people informed of all the changes he'd got brewing up in his head.

Brand new LWC feature: Locking regions! If you place a sign on a diamond block and lock it, there will be a 9x9x9 region protected around the block! Using cmodify to add players to the sign allows them to build in the region. Similarly an emerald block will protect a 7x7x7 region. Survival - Changes to the guest experience v2.0!
We are going to try something different: let guests build in mining again! This will allow new players a trial version of survival, after which they can take the tutorial to build in our protected worlds (pvp, pve). Also, if guests have enough time online (still undecided), they will be automatically promoted to "new".
Survival - Kits!
We are adding various kits to the server to make things like starting a new farm just a little easier for new players, as well as some fun things for veteran players. This is still WIP, but may be in testing over the weekend. When we make official decisions on what kits to have, this thread will be bumped with the changes. These will not be crazy...

Survival - Open/close observatory cover with day/night cycles
One of personal goals of ezeiger92 since we implemented the new Survival spawn island was to make the observatory which you spawn at open and close with the day and night cycles of the Minecraft day. Well in the last week, we finally got around to it and you can see it opening and closing. It's a nice little bit of polish for our survival spawn and something that Erik thought was fun to do in the middle of fixing UUID related problems.

For those who haven't noticed, we've rebooted the Space Engineers survival server with a new clean map with a world file limit on normal density and lots of new mods. In total we have 70 mods including improved oxygen support. We did some testing earlier in the week and decided some balance was needed and now have a final setup.
Basic ShadeCrest rules apply to our Survival server. Attacking other factions is ok, but don't be a pest / dick. In terms of the Creative server, it's a bit more chaotic and anyone building there is recommended to make blueprints of anything you're working on. Don't expect things to be how you left them especially around spawn. Basically utilize creative for collaborative temporary ship or station design, not for any permanent features / structures.
