NEW MAP IS CURRENTLY LIVE Remember that the rules are as follows. We will be updating the official wiki to include all of these rules and I highly advise once we get the permissions setup for a trusted group of people to build the spawn area, that you put up signs explaining the rules for random people who join without visiting our website. Follow the general rules of conduct ShadeCrest that applies to all servers. Don't be a jerk Keep chat T for Teen Don’t lag up the server Don’t advertise Don’t use abuse bugs or exploit Many similar rules of survival Respect others when building and shaping the land Stealing is legal from any unlocked containers Besides that, basically leave other people's things the way you found it No murdering everyone's animals or harvesting crops without at least replanting / rebreeding Don't absolutely demolish the land to the point that it looks like garbage Use "/vanilla" from any ShadeCrest server to teleport to the Vanilla+ server or simply walk through the entrance gate when in the Lobby Use "/modreq [Description of problem]" to report people who grief Type "/prism near" to see who might have griefed a location Securing your containers chests, trapped chests, furnaces, hopper, droppers, dispensers, brewing stands "/secure" or "/secure d" or "/secure diamonds" to secure containers with 4 diamonds "/secure g" or "/secure gold" to secure containers with 10 gold "/secure v" or "/secure vp" or "/secure votepoints" to secure containers with 5 votepoints Survival and Creative staff will check up on vanilla periodically BanManagement is being used for managing our bans. While in the past when we were white-listed we had a one strike you are out never allowed back approach to Vanilla, we will probably end up managing Vanilla similar to survival in terms of allowing people to appeal for bans, doing temp bans for minor offenses, and the like. Complete: 1.7.10 Bukkit, Prism, LWC, ReportRTS, and zPermissions and about 15 other plugins installed Make sure it's queryable from the forums front page status Basic configuration for prism, mod reqs, and some permissions setup Multiverse finish setup so admins can travel across dimensions for modreqs Integrate with the hub server Creeper explosions are disabled Ghast explosions are disabled Enderman griefing is disabled TnT disabled Firespread disabled Ontime WorldEdit /secure [d|diamond|diamonds], custom command for locking containers with 4 diamonds /secure [g|gold], custom command for locking containers with 10 gold /secure [v|vp|votepoints], custom command for locking containers with 5 vote points Allow locking of hoppers, droppers, dispensers, brewing stands, chests, and trapped chests Disable PvP Ban Management HeroChat Worldguard Pre-generating the new map with large biomes and a huge world boarder Loading up the new map to replace the current temp map 200 blocks around spawn is a protected region zPermissions (in Progress) To-do Those in [Trusted] rank are only ones allowed to build in protected collaborative build regions Dynmap - http://vanilla.shadecrest.com:8123/ Get the plugins spreadsheet up to date with the full list of plugins and versions Build out separate tab in the staff to-do list spreadsheet for Vanilla Update player stats page to include stats from Survival / Creative / Vanilla all separately (particularly the online time, show an aggregate online time across all Minecraft servers) After this is done I'm going to really have fun amping back up Survival to be what it was back in the day when I first joined (McMMO in it's full glory) obviously with the support of the community, but a quick query of the player base sounds like they support it. Also, once it's done we can get back to coding the Marketplace rental system which is on hold for the implementation of Vanilla+.
So LWC doesn't actually support the ability to charge items for locking, so we're writing a helper plugin that handles all that an interacts with LWC behind the scenes. It's called /secure. You can monkey around with it on vanilla, don't worry though it's only about half way working. Votepoints being used for locking will have to come a little later, getting working with diamonds or gold for right now. Put in stubs for command to support using votepoints, again that can come later. The plugin is probably the biggest thing preventing us from really launching this thing. Once that's done the rest of the setup can be done on the new map if we have to while it's kinda going live. Erik will have to do his world generation magic, again one this plugin is finished.
Charging items / votepoints is fairly annoying. Getting less vanilla than it would be for free locks.
The other thread was pretty much dead until Keldt and I picked it back up going back and forth and no one else was saying anything else. I offered to spend all the time we're spending spinning up this server which is already several days of work, but with certain conditions to make sure it was maintainable from a staffing perspective. One of those things was free locks wasn't going to happen. I guarantee if you make locks free there will be an administrative nightmare that the staff has to deal with. You're not going to get free locks, if you want locks they have to have some reasonable resource cost or at the very least vote points (a day worth of voting on all the vote sites will lock 1 chest on vanilla).
No, that creates an administrative nightmare. Do you understand what it means to staff a server? Can you please take that 13 year old brain of yours and try, just for a moment, to think of someone else other than yourself and what you want?
. I don't know about all of the others, but I was broke af on the last vanilla. I had only 4 diamonds within all my time on there. We can make the chest locks only 4 votepoints possibly? 7 seems like an awful lot.
You were probably broke because it was total chaos. Takes about 10 minutes from game start to 4-6 diamonds. We're not talking rocket science super hardmode stuff here. We just need a reasonable cost so there aren't locked containers ALL OVER the world. People need to stop and think, should I secure this chest, will I be back, is this just temporary, and consider the resource cost of locking. It's that simple. If you just give it for free, locked chests will be all over the world in dirt huts at spawn. Admins will have to remove them. It will be a goddamn administrative nightmare. The idea of charging vote points is to encourage players to actually vote even when they are playing on vanilla. We have 7 vote sites. So if you vote on all of them, you can secure a chest. We can go with a lower number I guess so if you vote every day you get an extra chest every few days. Sure we could go down to 5. Spending time arguing with you Ginger is slowing down my progress on implementation.
Votepoints will already be used on survival once nvd or whoever gets that shop going, perhaps we should stick with gold/diamonds since those are easy to get if u like mining
You have to think about people who don't play on survival. I need to give them incentive to vote. If a player is a Vanilla only player, they vote, they secure chests on the server they play on.
Securing with votepoints is working now. Just need to tie up some minor loose ends and I think we'll be ready to generate the new map and officially launch Vanilla+! Special thanks to Slebert who graciously helped with testing while I yelled at him for jumping around while I fixed bugs.
Split up the to-do list between stuff absolutely required for launch and stuff that can come post launch. One of those key things which I hope ezeiger92 can prioritize today is BanManagement. Also Erik, remove EHM off the BanManagement list.
After done with the database maintenance over the last several hours, went ahead and wrapped up the launch of Vanilla+. Everything is reset in terms of lwc, prism, modreq, bans, etc that was there from the test map. So Vanilla+ is basically fresh and ready for people to start playing for realz. I updated the top of this thread with the current rules I'm proposing. We still have a few more things to setup on Vanilla+, but at this point Erik and I have been doing maintenance for the last 7 hours and it's 5:30 in the morning, so we're going to bed. EDIT: At the time of the post the map is still pre-generating to the world border so the vanilla+ server might disconnect you, be lagging, etc until it's done pre-generating. We're making the map pretty big because unlike Survival, it's only one world (plus nether and end). See ya'll tomorrow!
