Is there any way townie can flag people from a certain town as either PVP/NonPVP based on residency? Then people from the non-carebear side could PVP freely, and anyone from the non-PVP side could only PVP if they were attacked first. Won't fix the problem of lack of retaliation, but will fix the problem of non-PVPers raiding those of us that don't prescribe to the carebear ways. ;)

Hey peaceful player come help me build my house!
"Random" pvper attacks peaceful player who came to help build house and peaceful attacks and/or player kills pker.

/modreq A peaceful player just used /home (playername) to attack me on the pvp side!

A non PvPer is going to be much less likely to read the PvP section of the rules due to lack of interest in PvP, so what the hell is the solution here? Don't allow them to attack but allow them to /home or /town spawn to their house?

Just have them stay out of pvp to begin with?

I'm just taking a shot in the dark but is it possible to just get a plug-in made that disables /home /warp /town spawn for 1-5 minutes when you pvp? (kinda like the other one that would punish combat logging?) I don't know if there is currently a way to automatically toggle/revert permissions when starting PvP combat but that would be an interesting solution. (not perfect but it would work towards a few problems and annoyances i imagine)

Also there are people who have multiple homes (in and outside of pvp) or are part of a pvp town but have a peaceful house so how does that work? Or is it only based on the town that their name is under?

What if they instead just have some kind of storage on peaceful? What then?

Forgive me if these don't seem like good questions, I'm not actually playing minecraft atm (i can't tell you what i am playing of course, but let's just say it involves dwarves, magma and elf genocide plans:D) so don't assume these are complaints (or that i really care either way to be honest), but with the allowance of players to join pvp towns with peaceful houses for so long? *Shrugs*

I'm one of those players who had their home in peaceful and pked from it (although it's kinda obvious i spent a lot of time on the pvp side working as well as pking), i did it because it gave me something else to do after the point that i wanted a change from mining. Colosseum is frankly boring, it's a bunch of kids noob rushing with stone swords so it's not going to really attract people over to the pvp base in my opinion.

I understand how this is an issue so again don't get me wrong, there seem to be a lot of problems with pvp stemming from having both a peaceful and pvp side eh? :(

I dunno, outposts might be a good way for the more aggressive players who are part of towns like FC or SH to let out their bloodlust, while still being suceptible to attack. As in, the town could post a list of people who currently operate at the PvP outpost. If one of those people attacks a town, then run into the safe zone, drop the metaphorical hammer on them.

Also, never heard of outposts before in Towny :p

No, you don't want some peaceful following you and picking up loot from the guy you just killed do you?

What if a peaceful town expanded in a straight line until there town existed in both the peaceful and pvp sections? What then?

I think we should ban players who have their home located at the non-pvp area, and go raiding and stealing stuff from the pvp area.

This is what happened to me yesterday. Some player called "JoThePro06" (not sure about the numbers) got into my house, killed me, stole my stuff (diamond pick, axe and shovel, 4 stacks cobble, 2 stacks dirt, 2 stacks wood, some coal, torches and some other stuff) and then simply used /home to go to non-pvp again, store my stuff in his chest and log out.
When i told him it sucked that people like him are doing this kind of business he said i shouldn't cry that much and that i was an "***" (buttox).
This kinda things have happened to me too often, and i will never be able to get my stuff back, because these players are safe in their homes on the non-pvp side once they simply warped back after the kill.

I really hope that such players will be banned in the future, and victims like me can reclaim their stuff stolen from them.

I agree but disagree at the same time, I have for one, have my home on the Safe side because it's a place to relax and not worry about getting murder by those who wish to attack me,but at the same Time I'm in a PVP town in which I help with a lot. I fight the enemies of my town with town mates, and I Defend my town with town mates. I was able to be killed during those events, and once it's all done, nothings happening, we split the loot, then we all go to our homes.

Ok, sounds fine to me :) But town wars between pvp towns are different from what i am talking about. I just mean those who have their house on Non-PVP and go raiding and stealing on the pvp side... If you are in a PVP town, you should have a home there as well, so people from whom you got loot will be able to get it back because they can kill you with loot on the pvp side :)
Sorry for my bad English, just hope you guys understand what i mean :)

If possible there should be a exception when a player attacks or kills someone has to walk back to thier home(if players home is on peaceful side then they have longer to walk before becoming safe) with no aid from any warp commands till he has reached his town/home on foot.

that is where the time limit that was suggested comes into play... Alot of the PVP'ers on that side of the map know to use discrtion... they hate themselves when combat logged on, so they dont do it to others... a standing rule is 100 blocks without a person chasing you, and you can warp, if they chase you, start heading for your town... :)

I have one question for this thread. In many other threads I have seen people complaining about lack of pvp, too few pvpers and wanting pvp in more areas. Now you want to stop people that live in pve towns like Forgotten Cliff and others from pvping at all? Whats the point of that? I understand you dont want someone coming to your town, killing once and leaving. But what about those that live in peaceful and then come spend 4 hours in the pvp side, with a base there that can be attacked as well? That only adds to the amount of pvp, and since they are there for an extended amount of time, you can retaliate. I like pvp, but not on a constant basis. I live in the absolutely wonderful town of Forgotten Cliff, but I have a nice home on the pvp side too, and on occasion I like to go their for hours and get my pvping fix. Would this now not be allowed to happen? And if so, doesnt that just further discourage pvp and lead to less pvp overall?

the problem is people having their home in the peaceful side, going south, killing and looting and pillaging, then warping home to peaceful side so that they can store their loot with no fear of it being taken. amassing resources at the hands of people that PVP all the time. these people then stay on the peaceful side for extended time periods, so the PVP'ers who live in risk have no way to get their resources back.

it had not been updated with one patching, i am not sure if it is one that max is looking at useing currently, and even if it was, we do not release info on all the plug-ins we are using... refer to bullet #3 of general rules...
