The mining world was reset for 1.7 . As for a schedule, it has generally been reset for most major updates.

 

so will it be reset for 1.8 in may?

 

Certainly! As long as the update introduces new blocks into the natural terrain the mining world will always be reset.

As there are always problems with updating minecraft servers, the mining world will most likely be updated a month or two later, so you can expect it around the end of June.
