Only a little over 4 weeks till the little babe gets here Before anyone asks, we have no idea what we are having, but for the sake of this post I will refer to to the babe as a "he" or "him" for simplicity. We have cable but we don't watch it. Why? because we have netflix and the internet. The watching actual tv or cable is just wasting your time during commercials and you end up scheduling your life around it. What you are taught, see and hear impacts you in some way. if I said 5x5=25 you know that is correct, but if I said that 10x10=99 you would know that is wrong. This is because at some point in your life you learned that 5x5=25 and that 10x10=100. TV is not bad, but growing up you absorb so much info and it shapes you so much. Because of this we are going to filter what they watch. As they get older we will start letting them make more of theri own decisions. I would rather they mess up some at home where it is easy to recover instead of being over protective with them. I also totally plan to introduce them to minecraft and other games. But I am not going to let them stay inside all day. We are going to have outings to the library and hikes several times a month. We also plan to home school. This is for many different reasons, one of those reasons is that the public school system is not preparing kids enough or setting high enough expectations for them "IMHO." Also, there are large home school groups that get together and do different things and go on field trips, which will provide them with plenty of friends. I also plan on teaching them sign language and Spanish. Spanish is something I always had a knack for but never really learned it, and sign language is what my sister is majoring in so she can be an interpreter. So I plan on learning the language with them which I think will be cool. TL;DR: Bottom line: We are going to filter what they watch until they are old enough to make their own decisions. We are going to let them make their own mistakes but help where we can. We plan on having hiking trips and trips to the library, as well as teach our kids from home so they can learn more. PS. sorry I have no actual experience for your project :/
