supply > demand = lower prices

supply < demand = higher prices

do they not teach economics in school anymore?

if you want price to go back up we need more people using the diamonds then trying to sell them for a quick buck.

im taking AP economics (junior year) :D
if someone were to recommend adding price floors and ceilings to the shop/iconomy plugins ;D we could stop the prices from going down

what if all the diamonds that have been mined were removed and then mining was reset. Then using world edit select all of the diamonds in mining and then //set 75%stone,25%diamondore making the diamond scarcity increase drastically. thoughts from admins?

    1. The chunks aren't all loaded at the same time, so this would not work.
    2. It would be alot of unnecessary work for the Admins.
    3. It could crash the server if alot of blocks were highlighted
    4. MC Edit would be a better decision;3

In general I'm lowering the prices of those products that are not selling well enough. I'm keeping track of my sales.
In the last 5 days I lowered the price of Obsidian from 10r to 7r - because no one ever bought a single item.
And I lowered the price for Diamonds from 80r to slightly under 80r - again because no one ever bought a single Diamond since I raised the price to 80r. Why should I keep those prices high when no one is buying? Don't you think I would like to sell high?

like i said, all of the major sellers, bb, giftshop, tradingpost, etc., would have to follow prices for this to work, even then people sell in /ch tr for about 75r, so everyone should just sell for no less than 80r and everything will be ok :D

    @blumi supply > demand

your having to compete with 50 others also selling diamonds, once players stop finding diamonds the price will increase. When vendors run out they will no longer be able to supply the demand and prices will rise, the reason it will take a while to do is because of the players that hoarded all the diamonds they found previously, the supply was too much.

It will take time but I believe that prices will start to rise soon.

As for removing the ores from mining I think that would be a great way to expedite the process of cutting the supply, but to those who remember removing ores from a map is no simple task.

I propose that the current mining world not be reset, but instead diamonds be removed. This will force players to buy diamonds from shop or other means and also force vendors to sell off their collected stock. This may be a problem to players that are self reliant and do not buy or sell anything (myself included).

There is probably a better solution to what I've just suggested and Im not sure this would or could even work, but I would be interested to find out if it would.

^ thats true but there will always be new players joining even after its mined out.

What about setting mining world so you can only access 2 weeks a month, that way diamonds etc have a chance to sell out at the vendors and new players will still have a chance to mine?

I agree, it would definitely harder for the new people. However (just throwing this out there) with the low traffic we have had since 1.0 came out, if this was to happen i believe now would be the right time. Whenever bukkit updates it is going to a lot harder to enact such an aggressive measure. (Also just throwing this out there) it is going to be a lot easier to re stabilize economy now, than it will be when there are 5 or 6 new people a day. i support imax and his decision.

Why don't we just reset the economy, it would be a lot simpler

you know, just throwing my 2 cents in here. Everyone's concerned about having too many diamonds in the economy, but I find the rest of the ores aren't moving at all.
Over the past 4 days I've been buying iron and gold for well over their regular market price, and yet I've only been able to get 2 sales, one from a town member and another from wkd.
Aside from diamonds, the other ores seem to have greater demand than supply.

I'm the demand, as I'm (attempting to) buy them, yet there's no one who will sell (the supply).
I phrased that badly. I meant
