http://www.skydaz.com/mapwriter-mini-map-mod-installer-for-minecraft-1-7-10/ I came across this mini map today and I find it to be amazing. I found it to follow rules about minimaps A:No Mobs which isn't even an option B:No Players also not an option C:Cannot aid mining or such game play I tested this by going next to a known lava lake (I recovered it up) and It didn't show lava lakes or cave systems (except parts that you already traveled through at your block level) although death points are available but I don't think that is an issue because of memorizing death cords in vanilla and options to turn it off. The map refreshes places that you've been and it will fade away parts at different levels as you move up/down. (btw underground mode is optional) The map has a nice set of options including size, Circular/square, show coords, trail markers, and location on screen. Also the mod comes with a small installer that puts the mod directly in forge (mods folder) which you can remove later
Player: "It's so nice we can do [X] on the server" Admin: "No you can't, it's against the rules (although it's not that bad)" Player: "Shoot, sorry, won't happen again" Admin: "No worries" I'm pretty sure that's how it would go if you broke some minor rule, goof
Oh wait the whole fucking purpose of this thread was to ask about whether it was ok to use the map? Yeah go right ahead it's one of the worst mini maps out there. I personally don't give a shit what map mods people use as long as they don't abuse it. Simply that. If you're abusing it to do gain an advantage (and it's obvious when you are) then it's bad. If you're using it for general all purpose not getting lost, marking waypoints, even deathpoints, then have at it. No problem. That's just my opinion.
From prior experience, 99% of the time people don't care if you're using a minimap or not. As stated above, the only real issue is if you use it to find tunnels and whatnot, like a low tech x-ray.
