My ban, finally.

The following ban appeal goes for Creative as well as the survival server.
My IGN: canopenertrooper

Who banned you?: Well, originally it was QuietSea. After some problems with the servers banning plugin (or something) I was unbanned and then I could log onto the server. I don't recall who banned me the second time (I did nothing wrong the second time, just a server plugin error).

Why was I banned?: I was banned for telling a griefer how much I hated him. I added in the Shadecrest Creative server name. The guy (or his friend) then came back and ddos'd the server.
Original ban message: Banned for being immature, make a ban appeal in June.
New Ban message: no.

When was I banned?: I think I recall being banned back in early - mid April. I don't know for sure.

How long is my ban?: My ban was permanent (hopefully not anymore).

More detail about the ban: Well, I am sure almost every long term Shadecrest user knows about this story. The Creative server had a HUGE grief. Everyone was extremely upset about it (including me). After around 2-3 weeks I went to the youtubers channel and told him how much we disliked his content and what he has done. The next day either him or a friend came back and asked to see me in person (whilst I was asleep). he then ddos'd the server. I think it was offline for a day or two. Admins contacted me telling me I had done wrong. I was so depressed.... I knew I would be banned but I had no clue for how long. At first people told me it was temporary. I soon found out it was not. The original chat message kept changing when I tried logging on. I can't recall what every chat message said.

Why should I be unbanned?: Well, since the incident I have matured. You shall no longer have this kind of immaturity with me. Sure, the first days of my ban I was furious. I soon got over it. I have tried so many different servers to replace Shadecrest knowing my chances of coming back were slim. After trying over 4 Creative and 2 Survival server, I have given up my search. There is no community like this one. Ever since my ban was made public I have been receiving Private messages telling me to make a ban appeal. People seem to like me (must be my good looks). I kept debating whether to do it or not. I have finally gained the courage to make one and hope for the best

Contributions: I know this isn't in the format or anything, it is I just wanted to point out some things I have made so many contributions to the server, so many I can't even recall all them all. I have made dozens of videos for the servers. I am still getting requests for build videos today xD Another thing I have done for the server is donate. I know most people just go for the shiny new commands and stuff. Honestly I don't care about that (might sound cheesy, but it is true). It is all about keeping the server alive. Sure, 20$ isn't a lot (a lot for me). But I can imagine to Max, every penny from this great community helps (p.s I have gotten shaders mod working )

Your ban was originally permanent. Someone who wasn't in the loop must have accidentally unbanned you.
You caused me and majestic_moose a lot of time and effort talking to get the guy to stop the DDoS. -_- We didn't even get much thanks from ANYONE after that. It was pretty much, "ok b as usual now, no big deal." We probably spent more than 3 hours talking to the guy and countless hours trying to resolve the conflict in general. After that, we came to an agreement for him to stop and everything rolled over and the DDoS stopped. After it happened, you pretty much said to us "lol cya guys later I'm gonna go join <insert any server here> and not even show remorse for what I've done."

 

I know I did that. I had mixed emotions. I was angry, sad, and depressed all at the same time (not fun to be like that). I did some foolish things in the beginning. I really truly regret bringing up other server into the conversation. I have never been banned like that from something huge in my life at the time (not excuses...).

Also, I felt absolutely terrible when I woke up and went to the forums. I might not have shown any remorse (I sure felt horrible), I wish I had, as it might affect the future of this thread and if I get unbanned.

I am truly sorry that you had to spend 3+ hours talking to that guy. Like I said, I made a huge mistake. I have matured over the couple of months of my ban. I have no idea how I can prove that to you :\ I just hope to dear life that you believe me.

 

I'm going to unban you on July 2nd. Pm me around that time if you're still interested in getting unbanned. It's going to be left permaban unless you pm me around that time. If you slip up the slightest, you're out of here though.

 

I do think initially the ban was one month, which I thought was enough. Yes, you did something stupid, but the consequences weren't really in the realm of reasonable consideration.

At this time (7 weeks from ban), you've pretty much been off the server for the cumulative time everyone else was off the server.

I'll let others weigh in, but personally I have no problem unbanning.

That's probably where I got the month from, and there's nothing wrong with waiting 5 weeks extra to appeal.

Anyway, good to see what other admins think, Teh and legend also spent at least an hour on it
