invisable blocks

so I downloaded a map yesterday to check it out. There is some design features of water with at first glance thought to be voxeled there. But upon closer look it was an actual invisable block. like glass but no outline at all when I broke one it made a stone sound and the "dust" looked like stone. what the heck is this? anyone have an idea as it looks very handy.

 

What texture pack do you use? Maybe it was some kind of stone but didn't load right.

 

not sure if this counts, but stairs with their data value edited to -1 are invisible. However i think you need MCedit or something like that to do it.

I do. I've seen this done before. I think it was on that kingdom of cypher map too or whatever. It's done with MCEDIT i think. some kind of wizardry dealing with ladders.

 

While I agree with Quiet (and it is probably that as well), the kingdom of cypher one drops ladders when destroyed..

There is an actual invisible blocks mod available. So chances are, it may have been done with that.

 

the ID for this invisible block is 36.
but its disabled on shadecrest.
its cool but the only wait to build it is WE. you cant place it by hand so its very comlicated to build with it, but cool
