as said, read the wiki carefully... but here is a quick overview of protections for you

use /cprivate - this will then allow the next item you punch to be locked for 500 rupies
/cinfo will allow you to punch a chest and see whom locked it
/climits will tell you how many chest locks you have left
/money will allow you to see how much cash you have left
