Cash4Diamonds idea.

I recently brought up an idea with max about a cash4diamonds idea and while (i think) he liked the idea, we both agreed that it still needs some work before it can be implemented.

The idea was of having a chest shop in spawn (or where ever) that players could sell diamonds to, this shop would belong to a second account that all admins can use and moderate, thus it would never run out of space. When a player sells diamonds to the cash4diamonds, the money the player gets would come out of the second accounts total money which would be completely funded by things like auctions and if possible donations, this way when the player sells diamonds to the shop the money would not be generated. The diamonds that are sold to the shop would then be used in auctions and events, this would keep the admins from spawning diamonds for said events and thus stop adding more diamonds into circulation. If the account begins getting a surplus of diamonds then a set amount of diamonds would be stockpiled and the rest will be ether deleted.

The primary goal of this idea is to improve the price of diamonds by stopping the influx of diamond from things like events, and even possibly removing diamonds from circulation. As I said before this idea still is not perfect and I would like the thoughts and opinions of all of you to help improve this idea.

 

Well what if we just reset the entire economy? (not being facetious).
We (love that word, because normally it means you do it, i take credit) could do some hardcore math, and fix prices for everything, including towny, cash for gold, auctions, lwc, warping, all of that, and then, as you've suggested before, make an iconomy account with 1 million rupees. Then the only money faucets would be voting, as everything would either draw from or put money in the shadecrest account. It would be a radical change, but if we somehow made it through the revolution it would completely halt inflation.

 

If you reset everything then you are going to screw over A LOT of towns and A LOT of people. It would take a couple days for struggling towns to get back on their feel as well as kick a lot of people from towns.

Because of the fact that they aren't more common then gold, the only reason they are as common as they are is because people are going out mining and getting a crap ton of them, hoarding them, and then asking for the mining to be reset. If we began to remove them from circulation then the price for them will start to raise.

 

My point exactly, though I have this bad feeling that when its first implemented the chest going to get filled very quickly. There need to be more ways for the account to get money and thus buy more diamonds from people which means less diamonds in circulation.

Sure, a lot of players will get money from diamonds but the money they gain will not be generated, it will come from other players which just mean that pretty much they traded their diamonds to someone who is just going to re use them or destroy them. Why am I getting the feeling that Max is the only one that truly read my post?

I don't think this is a very good idea. I will explain why. So some time in those 3 days, 1 person is going to discover you can sell diamonds and they are going to go around the map buying diamonds from shops and selling them to this shop. This person will become rich and no one else will have a chance.

I recommend we do a cash4diamonds day. Basically you pick one day (This is like a one time event) and have cash4diamonds shop that is an admin shop. It is only there for exactly one day. Let people sell all the diamonds they want for that one day. Then at the end of that day, people would realize there out if diamonds. People would have so little diamonds, the value of the diamonds would shoot up. Diamonds would actually be worth something again.

let the economy go how it is going its doing fine and does not need to be changed.

 

I think my idea could work. One day people could sell all the diamonds they want. People sell all of there diamonds and realize they have no to very little diamonds. Diamonds become rare and valuable again. I think it would fix the economy.

 

I think you all are missing the point, which is to improve the price on diamonds by removing the influx of diamonds from admins spawning them as well as removing some from the game. Allowing players to sell them is not the primary goal.

 

Why don't you make a command like we had during christmas with items? Like: Certain amount of rupies is added to cash for diamond shops at every XX minutes. That way rather than having the one guy getting 80k this will make it possible for every one go and sell few diamonds there during day.

 

or everyone who owns a shop set their floor to 50r...?
it's what you do with gold, why wouldn't you do that with diamodns.

 

Because that would defeat the point of the second account, randomly adding money to an account would now beand adding new money to the game, which would hurt the economy even more. As I said before, the point of all of the is not to give every player money, but to make the price on diamonds go up by removing some from circulation and stopping admins from spawning new diamonds.

 

Well I meant set to max amount of money added to the account (X) and X = Amount of money used in chest auctions. Shouldn't be hard to do.

 

just let people sell diamonds for what they want.
they are not worth that much anymore because there are so many of them from people mining with fortune III pickaxes.
nothing with diamonds needs fixing. so why don't we just leave it alone?
