I can't say that raiding isn't fun anymore, but it certainly isn't what it used to be. This may sound funny, but i liked it better when I died every raid to where now I haven't died in about 2 weeks. It's becoming time consuming and pointless to raid. So what I'm asking of everyone is if you think that wood, stone, and iron swords now be considered fist rushing. This would defiantly make some of the faint-of-heart leave PvP, but I think it would make raiding actually part of my daily schedule again.
I actually forgot to put the main point in, lol. People defending such cities as DF, and Flex just aren't even trying to defend there town anymore (choco, jeffie, iloveanimals) By making them have to attack raiders with diamond swords therefore makes them have to use armor. Then you finally can have a real fight.
I'm with ZPW, raiding isn't that fun and if we could get people raiding again I would play a WHOLE lot more than I do now! ;D
Despite me being the worst PvPer to ever be on shade crest, I have found it quite boring Plugin Idea What if we created a plugin that allowed raiding, maybe call the base command /raid first what you would do is make enemies with towns /raid enemy [townname] and you would be enemies with that town. Then you could set up inside your town a jail where you would type into a sign on the jail [enemy jail] then make another one with [friendly jail] then make a basic flag with glowstone around it and make it [flag] each town could be required to have that then with eligable towns the mayor or assistants could type /raid [townname], and it would give a thirty minute countdown, anyone who wants to join could type /raid join once the coundown is over the defending team would be teleported to their flag, and the enemy to the gate (maybe make one with [town gate]) during the raid the raiding teams goal is to either exterminate the defenders, or destroy the glowstone around the flag, once you die you will go to the jail of your team, and you couldn't warp out until one team wins (after the raid each team in the jail gets warped to their /t spawn). The defending team wins when all the opponents die. The winning team gets this algorithm of money p= amount of players t= town maybe a minimum of 5 defenders and no max, and a max of 10 raiders, something like that 1000p (in other words each participator of the loosing team costs the town 1k) and the winning town would get the money. You can always decline raiding as a town (maybe not being able to afford defense) Yeah, it would be super complicated, but I made sure it was possible, and guess what, it is -thanks, danaxz btw if I ever designed this, and you guys were interested, I could make it a custom plugin for us If you don't understand anything I just posted, too bad XD
Lol sorry for my spelling, It was a quick idea and i didn't have time to revise xD. If you want, I can make a more official statement.
And Dan, thats a good idea. Except I really feel that would make it more of a war game than a raid. That's why I was suggesting that instead of people coming at you with puny stone swords, they're forced to use diamond.
There are bukkit plugins which allow you to take(temporary) prisoners of war. Perhaps the thought of capture/rescue could be what PvP needs to spice things up.
Im on an iPad right now, but a few months ago I made a post about some pvp plugins, I recall a schedule raiding one and another one that stops damage from specified items
maybe if we didn't kill people in the first day of joining a pvp town, maybe they'll have time to build up, and build up the motivation to raid. People who are killed on the first day of a pvp usually ragequit the server, or they just leave pvp altogether :/
dont get me wrong, i love pvp, but i think that a diamond sword only policy is a bit stupid. im not the best at pvp, and mainly love to build, so to have to carry around a diamond sword that the second a bunch of people come im gonna lose is pointless. in arcadia, i walk around with nothing because awasted and other people are just sitting there daily, and it takes a whole round-a-bout just to get to building something. when i do just walk to the town border and anywhere, there is always someone with enchanted iron/diamond armor and weapons. plus with potions, half the time im just bombarded by those. i like to save my money, or use it to buy building materials, i never soend it on weapons. im soory to all the people who make a living killing and robbing new people, or having decked out people chase down people with nothing for their items, but i think adding tnt is a good enogh end to an already dramatic pvp.
I will post more on this tomarrow but let me clarify: Using a weapon besides a diamond sword is not illegal you can use a wooden sword if you want. What is illegal is rushing: respawning and immediately attacking a player without risking items For example: If I get killed in town by raiders and spawn back at town, only to pick up a sword and attack again, over and over until they are dead, that would be considered rushing, regardless if I use a diamond sword or not. Now If i want to go raid DF with a stone sword there should be no issue with that (except for being a little slow) unless I do it over and over again To reiterate, The weapon of choice is not the issue, it's how you use it.
*facepalm* that rule really needs to get changed, because if it is nesisary for me to keep going back to my town to kill raiders they should already be gone "raid then leave" so basically what this rule is saying: I could be peacefully building in my town (no armor no sword) someone could come with nothing on at all, wander around peacefully for a while (making me believe they are just there peacefully checking my town out) then later when they see I actually have something, walk up, then kill me wielding nothing but fists. Thats BS which btw happens to me about 3 times a week (not necisarily without a weapon) maybe I should start wandering around towns randomly fist rushing innocent people (building peacefully)
Yay for copying straight from the shadecrest rules wiki! * No spawnrushing someone. If you are killed in combat, you aren't allowed to keep coming at them, whether or not you are using your fists. Danaxz, if you are killed because you go around in pvp world without weapons or armor, that's your fault. We won't change the rules to say people can't walk by you unless they have a weapon. -.-
my only question, because i thought there was a poll or a topic about it, are you allowed to just go up and kill someone if they are in the middle of building/ doing nothing involved with pvp?
Being in a PvP town comes with the risk of being attacked at any time by anyone, no matter what you are doing.
I don't think you understand me on this. I don't care that people kill me with diamond swords 1000000 times a day, it gets redundant, but it isn't illigal (nor should it) What I care about is when I'm wandering around my town. Someone comes with no armor no weapons. Wanders around for some time. I believe they are here just looking at my town. Then when I fall down from my castle spawn, and survive, they then proceed to fist rush me to death. ^ that is what I believe needs to be changed
If someone from another town is in your town with nothing on I would find it a little strange and probably ask them what they are doing. You live on the PVP side you should assume everyone is out to get you. You have no idea how true this is. When I started arcadia we were attacked daily, by 2 different towns, so I can't feel any remorse for you that you've lost a few building materials, I've lost probably 100k worth of items, that's the danger of living in pvp. I'm just curious but how many times has it actually happened where a player has come to your town with nothing on and was actually able to kill you?
The main topic in this post isn't about fist rushing, or how much time is spent in the town. The main point of this is that raiding isn't a challenge. What I'm trying to get at is the fact that if you defend with only a stone sword in hand. The chances are that your going to get no where (I figured that out from battling out my days in december with Prod and Zjaw, so trust me. I know where stone swords get you). For instance I'm starting a Pvp town soon. Because I'm so fed up with no one defending their town, that i'm making it policy to defend with at least iron armor and diamond sword. I feel that Pvp has lost its old ways. -Dr.ZackPower
