How about some customer service/problem resolution??!!

Tonight at aprox 7:00PM EST i went afk for aprox 15-20 minutes while my character was in my workshop (A very secure location). When I returned, it said I was dead. The location of my death I could see clearly and have never been there before and cant imagine how my character could on his own go from my workshop to this mystery location. I asked for admin help, and nrayf answered my call. I told him that I was somehow tped away from my workshop, to said mystery location while i was afk. He told me that the only one who could tp me that was on was cerberus and that no tp command has been issued (cerberus was busy doing other things). Nrayf said that I was accusing staff of tping me but that was his own drawn conclusion to what i had described to him. He looked up my cause of death for me (zombie) and blamed it on the server restart (which happened just after i had returned to see that I was dead already). He said drop it and then left. Cerberus said he would not overrule nrayf's decision when I asked to be tped to my place of death. End of discussion: settled enough for staff's purposes.

This is the second time that this has happened to me. The first time I was in BB's shop and afk for no more than 5 minutes. I got the same support that time along with ridicule and disrespect.

I have a legitimate concern that I wish to be addressed: I believe that someone (non staff) that plays on the server has hacked it and is able to use the /tphere command so they can tp people into danger to die of "natural" causes and take their stuff. This is the only scenario that I can imagine, though not the only possibility. I believe the staff would not do this to anyone deliberately.

I am not asking for my stuff back (diamonds, enchanted tools, ect.) nor am I asking for my experience back (level 20 something). All that I am asking for is the professional support of the staff; to do everything within their power to try to resolve the situation to the best of their abillty and try to make me, the paying customer, feel like a grown up (I'm 39, combat vet, business degree, father) and not like a snot nosed kid who whines about his diamond pick that fell in lava (which is probably what they have to deal with most).

I really like a lot of things the server has: dynamic map, mining world, strong economy, many players, ect., and am trying very hard to love the server. The staff is knowledgeable, competent, and professional, but... My one big problem is the lack of judgement, respect, and resolve from the staff that a normal business extends to their customers.

Please respect my rights to tastefully present constructive criticism by not locking this thread. Let it stay open and see what the community thinks. That is what this section of the forums is after all: market desires. So how about it community: could the server work on their customer support and problem resolution?

Thanks, max. That was the professional response I was looking for. Maybe it will rub off onto the others. lol. Im glad that this is a know problem that has been documented in the past and I will take that advice to heart.

One thing I do know is that when you log out in a small space, or teleport to one, you get spawned in a safer one above or below, if there is one. For example, i had my home set in a cave, when i used my /home it sent me to an area above it, most likely because the place my home was in was small, the area I was sent to had a lot more area. Also, I logged off in an area where there was a roof 1 block above my character's head, it spawned me on top of the roof. Probably a Minecraft issue to try and stop people from spawning in blocks.

 

on another server, someone had this issue. when the server lagged severly if you used a teleportating chat command recently, the server backdated and relogged the command to tp him somewhere else. i think this is not the case, as shadecrest has no lag, and would document said command. the only reason to suspect is that the server restared which may have made it fall back on itself.

 

My mind blew up reading that.
why the heck would that happen with a restart... The server is off it's impossible for it to register something while it is off. Unless the server is immune to shutting off. This feels like a cheesy horror film XD.

Ya, i have seen that a few times and that isnt what happened.

Sometimes there is severe server lag when someone world edits, or other isolated events. I wonder if client lag could cause the same reaction? My last action was to tp back to my workshop where I thought it was safe and that should show up in the log. Also, I returned to the comp, dead, a good 30 seconds before the server reset, so that would not be the cause. So far, this is the best explanation yet. thanks.

Heath, maybe you missed my above post. what do you even want us to do? Because the only thing you've asked for was unrealistic.

this thread isn't about solving his problem, it's about customer support. If there really is something to argue about it's nothing PMing can't solve

The bottom line is, you were afk and got killed by a mob. No way to tell what happened, you were afk. Dont afk in the future and then rage when you die. Log off when you afk. Im locking this thread as Im tired of reading it
