You wouldn't have to "sort" it out. It would be their in black and white. Plus with all the new staff anyhow there must be some man power to spare. For this sort of thing. So just not anyone could make one you require a minimum starting balance and issue "licenses" your permission to create one. Get the necessary documents made to apply for such a thing and have an approval process. Which would make it not backdoor but a form of business. You figure out of everyone who pays loans a 80% or so payback rate only 20% or so not paying back. A half hour of your day sorting that out probably less since it will not occur daily. This could add more gameplay to shadecrest overall.
The licenses would probably be a good idea. Not so it creates admins more work to do; but rather the opposite. If a bad deal goes down with an unlicensed person, they can just turn around and say "Sorry, but you chose to deal with an unlicensed person". Can I just say though, that apart from the license thing. This doesn't need to involve admins at all. Like with creative community builds, this can be an entirely community run thing. Banks work on an honour system, admins are basically the police to make sure nothing bad goes down. To run this, I would say that you should go ahead and run a bank anyway. Then, if someone is massively overdue with their pay backs (without prior negotiation), then get the admins to intervene.
Yeah it'd be easier to just have it player run as it has always been, and just be careful who you pick.
So would the admins back intervene for bad deals I guess is what it comes down to. Cause even the most trustable person could decide. "Its the internet screw him".
(Maybe find an admin and offer them a percentage of the cuts) (It's not bribery, the official term is 'taxes')
Ok how about this all loans charge a late fee work it to where an admin charges a flat ammount for intervene 3k? So id still make money id charge a total of 4.5k.
I worked out my system with a 5% interest rate for the first 3 weeks (rounded up). every week onwards incurs an additional 5% per week (so the fourth week would involve paying back 10%, 5th week 15% and so on.). I don't look for a major profit, but it would add up over time.
I just make the person sign a book saying: Amount Loaned: Amount Owed: Pay Day: Then they just click sign, and it has their name on it. I make two copies just in case, one for them, one for me.
I have just played minecraft for three years now. Usto money top was my drive. This seems like a great subsitute. Now why is this getting denied instantly? Staff has way too many people. Monitering this after being started will be a cake walk. Plus in trms of new players might be away to get them started quickly. More towns could sprout up. Making PvP not a dry wasteland of people saying boo at each other. Heck for staff give legend survival admin and ask him to do it. He seems to like the idea and not shooting it down because it involves work.
All that has been denied is an admin putting up a sign no one will see whenever there's an agreement between two players. The economy has been going fine with only passive admin input (oreshop) keeping it stable. Everything else is player run. Why can't this be player run too? If you genuinely think it to be worthwhile, you'll put the effort in. Also, the main reason someone wouldn't pay back is due to inactivity, if its another reason you've probably been mistaken in your judgment. New players start with plenty, 32 iron, enough money for 2 locked chests and 800r left over. Add a few hundred more from voting, and if that's not enough they need to go back to mine craft 101.
I could really care less about you guys doing loans on your own. Piesquared already does this on her own. The only thing I don't like about the idea is admins having to enforce this... -_- It's a waste of our time.
I'm confused. No one's shot this idea down, apart from the bit about placing a sign in spawn? All it needs to be done is a player run business, after that it's sweet. Get the agreement in writing (which ever way you prefer) and if they don't pay it back, post in the finger pointing forum board about them going back on their word. Admins need not enforce the day to day dealings of players. It's too tedious and there are better uses of their time. Like getting everyone on the server to use Beocca's skin.
The only problem with loans in general is that you're gonna end up loaning people money and they're gonna blow it all on one thing. Like a prot 4 set or even a town if they get enough loaners. Then once they lose that item they bought they'll probably quit (pr eventually they'll probably quit anyways for another reason) and then there will be no other way to refund the loaner other than an admin spawning more money into the economy which eventually will kill it.. Again.
This thread is going off topic. We're not going to have this enforced by admins, but if you want to do it by yourself and at your own risk, go ahead.
