My fiance, YellowMagikarp, told me about this server and so I decided I would throw my application into the ring. We have been looking for a new server to play on for a a few reasons and yours looked like one of the best ones. So here I am. A little bit about myself, I am currently a college student studying Computer Science and CIT. I also plan on getting a degree in business as a fall back. I am in my fifth semester at a local community college and I plan to be here long enough to finish my Computer Science and CIT degrees as well as eventually a two year business degree. In a way I feel all three go hand in hand and indeed they share many of the same requirements. Computer Science and CIT so much so that to do one without doing the other is almost a waste of the tuition money. As for my experience in MineCraft, I don't really do much in the way of the solo game. Games are designed to be fun and what is more fun than playing great games with people who also enjoy those games? I have experience in setting up servers as well as playing on them. I helped a friend of mine from college set up his own server with the original intent of it being a server for those of us in the gaming club here to use and hang out on. That quickly turned into his own private kingdom that when he wants to turn the server on we can come look at. Not really as much fun as the initial idea, but I still like to go see what he has constructed every now and then. I was also once a member of a sever known as Foxtopia. For those of you that keep close track of MineCraft servers you may recognize the name. At one point Foxtopia was ranked as the number one MineCraft server. However, the owner quickly found out that was not as good a thing as one may initially think. We were flooded with new people. Many of them griefers. Staff had a pretty hard time keep up with it all and to top it all off the "Admin Captain" (second in command) wiped the server in a fit of anger shortly after it started to calm down. Which is a story for another time that I am glad to tell. Suffice to say Foxtopia 1.0, as it became known, was no more, we lost our ranking, and more importantly the owner learned the benefit of multiple backups. I actually spent quite a bit of time on Foxtopia up until recently. The friend who initially not only got me interested in MineCraft but also introduced me to that server had been a made a moderator shortly after I joined. Not long after I myself was made a moderator by the owner himself for my great attitude and dedication to an honestly run server in which the newbies were given the help they needed and griefers were shot on sight. Now some of you may be wondering why I would leave a server where I was a moderator. Well, the story is rather long and boring, if someone asks I will give it to them in detail. However, let's just say that after the original owner left some of the admins and people that were made admins showed their true colors. Now I'm not one to name names or talk about people behind their backs, but there is a certain level of maturity that a staff member is expected to have and the new staff, in my opinion, did not live up to it. It didn't help that there seemed to be a bit of discontent with use "1.0 mods". Many of the admins, who hadn't even been around for Foxtopia 1.0, felt we were "grandfathered in" and had no real claim to a staff position. To each their own. There is more behind it that I am more than willing to share in private messages to the curious. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to make Foxtopia sound bad. The community there is great and I am rather sad that because my friend and I resigned as a moderator it had to mean that staff would more or less have nothing to do with us. I still log on there every now and then to see what of my structures remain, what's been griefed so long ago that no one knows who did it, and what amazing new structures dot the landscape. But in truth I feel more like an unwanted outsider there than a member of the community who is among the oldest in terms of time spent. Well I think that is all for now. Sorry about the length of my post. For those that what a quick summary, "Hello, I'm new here and would like to play on your server."
That's one of the most interesting Introduction posts I've seen. I'd love to hear about the map being wiped, you should post it sometime. And welcome to the server! Have fun
at first i was all like TLR but then i read it... nice to have you on board... we have very active admins and mods and always like new active non-idiot players... i myself have been tempted to smack players upside the head sometimes but we cant always get what we want... i hope you enjoy your stay, and check out the builds we have... some are awesome... as well, we have current plans to move to the new 1.8 when released and will be working on that, i encourage you to stick through the rough patch we are about to hit and enjoy the everyflowing joy that is Shadecrest...
