Let's share some cool, weird, odd, facts!

About 100 people choke on ball point pens each year.

The crack your hear on a whip is actually the sound of a small sonic boom.

If you pet a cat 70 million times you have made enough static electricity to power an 60 -Wat light bulb for one minute

    Fun facts:
We live on a small blue dot of a planet which is the third of its kind from the star called Sol. There are 8 total planets 4 are Terrestrial, and 4 are Jovian. The nearest star Is called Proxima centauri, in the Alpha Centauri system, which Is 4.27 Light years from earth. The Galactic center is in the neighborhood of 24-26,000 light years from earth. These stars, as well as Millions more reside in the Orion-Cygnus arm (named after the constellations it harbors, Orion the Hunter, and Cygnus the Swan) of the Milkyway Galaxy. The nearest Galaxy, Called Andromeda, is 2.5 Million light years away.

Speed Of Sound: 768mph, or mach 1
    Speed Of light: 186,282 m/s (meters/sec) or equivalent to 670,616,629 mph (670 million, 616 thousand, 629 mph)
Light year: Distance light travels in a year, that distance is equivalent to 5,865,696,000,000, or 5 trillion, 865 billion, 696 million Miles a year

From our current location, It would take 24-26 years to reach the galactic center, at the speed of light.
From the edge of the milkyway to andromeda, going at the speed of light, would take 2.5 million years.

    Fun Fact:

The lion in the MGM Grand logo, seen at the start of many great movies, killed it's two trainers and one other person the day after the logo was filmed/made

not all polar bears are left handed, this is a myth that is purporated via these "facts" polar bears are ambidexterous,

Fun fact: if you took a full grown male blue whale and streched it out on a football field (canadian football) the game would be canceled.

Fun Fact: the myth of humans eating 8 spiders a year is false, but if you are a smoker, and smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, and live in canada or the united states, you will smoke on average 4 insects every single day from your cigarettes...

also, if you are a pack a day smoker, enough tar passes through your system in one day that you could pave a 1meter by 1 meter section of road, 1 inch thick... but you would not be allowed to as the toxins in the tar are not approved for use in paving roads or sealing them... :)

also, a challange for you when you are bored in public (say waiting for a bus for a long time or the like) put up a wet paint sign on something that looks freshly painted and see how many people touch it to see if it is still wet....

fun fact: there are over 4500 diffrent chemicals found in tobacco smoke. of these 56 are known cancer cauing chemicals.

Fun Fact myth busted: dropping a penny from the top of the empire state building has been purpotrated to be able to kill a man if it hit him. this is false for a few reasons.

1: the design of the empire state building makes it so a penny cannot fall straight down, it would hit a ledge.
2: the size of the building causes odd patterns in wind starting about halfway up, causing anything dropped to be pushed towards the building.
3: the max speed a penny can fall at is 9.18 m/s accelerating, this means the penny can reach a max of around 300km/hr if there was no wind resistance.

as discussed previously weird weather patterns = wind resistance, the penny will tumble instead of fly edge down. the max speed a penny can reach in theory when dropped from a building would be around 80-125km/hr due to these physics. a penny has no signifigant weight to it, in the low grams range, so if it were to hit a person on the head, it would cause a small scratch on their head if they were extreamly unlucky, no breaking their skull at all.

also due to the theory of gravity, basic physics and the like, the penny would reach it's max velocity, 80-120 km/hr after about 23 meters or so. this is the same as a 5 story building about. find a 5 story building, put one person on top with a penny, one atthe bottom, have the person on top drop it, and have the person on the bottom try to catch it... they can, but it is difficult as it moves around alot due to wind and air currents...

    the more you know

No, none of the five lions used to the logo attacked their trainers.

In fact the lion accused of the deed is stated to be the original lion Slats but is in fact the fifth lion Leo. And Leo was trained using the then new technique of "affection training" which used love, understanding and respect rather than the norm of guns, whips and chairs.
