Since we all have some free time.... :)

Please vote for what you would think is best for THE SERVER, not your town, not your friends town, or yourself.

IMHO option #3 or #4 would be the best route for the server

i voted Change town permissions to destroy off, with the rule 'locked doors are not allowed'

reasoning - this will prevent destruction of peoples walls and such, allow raiders to still enter and chase defenders that decide to run, this will also allow defenders to build true "safe rooms" where they can store and hide in but you have to break the walls to get in. i would also have to say use of switches = on

negatives - Safe rooms will be used to store all items, spawn points in towns made with no doors or exits so only town people can break the wall to leave, i can totally see someone making a safe room with windows and standing there shooting arrows out... :) but if destory is off, build would have to be on... so attackers could plug the hole with a block or something to prevent being shot at... :) this inability to destroy would allow the use of some truely ingenious redstone traps, that i know some players will call "cheater" on... but you can never make everyone happy...

these options include the other permissions for outsiders set to ON (build, items, switches)

@pyro all the options have some way of being exploited and people will find those ways but for the sake of good pvp and still being protected in a town options 3 and 4 are the best I feel

yep, thats why i voted for #3 :)

~edit~ i also have no ties to any towns... and am probally one of the more ruthless when dealing with PvP related stuff... so that rule would make it somewhat easier on me, as well as lower the amount of warnings and crap players have to put up with from me...:)

I voted for #4 for really the same reasons

I feel #4 is a better option since you can still lock your doors but the locked doors would still be easy to break into with a simple lever or button "hack".

I voted for 3. I think it is silly for anyone to lock their doors.

I was hoping you could do something like that, the honor system isn't great at stopping people :p

I agree completely. The problem we had was that nobody was attacking and everyone was just hiding in there sealed off towns.

With this raids will still be a viable PVP option as opposed to just waiting for someone to come out of there town

In the event of a tie on this poll I will make another with the top 2 options the only choices, I ask everyone to voice there opinion if it comes to that :)

Only thing wich is needed to keep PvP side liveable is have chests protections for chests!
Other protections just destroy the PvP feeling.

If something should be turned off from outsiders it should be building idiotic towers / stairs to get over walls, as taking those down is more of a pain than fixing a hole in the wall.

    I voted for 3,
In previous servers, I have seen the owner disable door protections.
Maybe that's what we can do?

I fully support the concept of using the wonderfully detailed functionality that Notch has given us in this game to keep people out of where you don't want them. :)

If the simple lever/button/torch trick works, I wouldn't use the word "hack" so much to describe the technique, but rather to describe the person who designed/wired the circuit (i.e., much the same way as my golf skills are described.) ;)

#3 seems a little odd, I don't see why people shouldn't be allowed to burglar-proof any way they can, using that which can be built in the game. Just disable door protections, turn destroy (and possibly build) off, and it's survival of the fittest. 8)

What about using redstone to lock door?
