Proton's Ban Appeal

Hello Staff,

I tried logging in today only to find that I have been banned. I haven't really done anything on the server in the past 48 hours, and I cannot find my name on the ban list with a reason why I was banned. Could a staff member clarify why I was banned; I did not think I was doing anything against the rules before I last logged out.

Edit: I found my name on the temporary ban list (just noticed the link). Can a staff clarify, I thought only auto-grinders were illegal? Mine was not an auto-farm. It requires manual labor to kill the spiders. I did not think this was against the rules. Also, this farm did not use any unintentional game-mechanics to spawn these spiders, they came from cave spider spawners.

Thanks. How come blaze spawners can be camped, and not cave spider spawners? Setting up an efficient blaze farm is the same as the farm I have now.

Additionally, I did not think my farm would create that much lag (considering the server advertises it can handle 90 people, of which, I hardly see more than 25 on at one time). It should be equivalent to a blaze spawner, or less, considering blazes require more particles, explosions, and projectiles to be animated.

Anyways, I guess I'll just make a blaze farm after this temporary ban is lifted.

 

Blaze spawners can be camped because it is the only way to get blaze rods and also fighting them without getting hurt/hit is hard as they will fire at you from many angles and you can't hit their feet.

As for camping other spawners like spider spawners, you can easily set up a perimeter where they can't hit you but you can hit them. The rules may say that it creates lag, but I do not entirely believe that, I believe its so people don't camp a spawner all day to get the items that they drop and if it was legal, everyone would be able to get double chests full of string, spider eyes, rotten flesh, bones and arrows and we don't want that.
All by camping a spawner, which would make the items value drop by a great margin.

 

The rules state I am allowed to camp a blaze spawner though, correct? If so, I'll just set up a blaze farm, haha.

Hi there, this is the mod who banned you.
You can't use contraptions to farm any mobs. You may camp blaze spawners, but only in an arena style.
The contraption you used I view as super illegal, and just because you don't think it causes lag doesn't mean it doesn't.
Also, this method means you can level up faster than anyone else without danger, all you have to do is punch into a block.
Don't build any more mob grinders, no matter how little lag you presume it causes.

I must admit that I used protons grinder, and i have since threw out my grinder-enchanted items. If I deserve a punishment I am open to it, i'm just hoping i wont be banned longer than a week...

Well he did have signage up indicating that it was legal.
This is everyone's warning. Whether it's yours or not, don't use them! Fight mobs and play fairly. If it gives you an advantage over everyone else, think before you act.

 

You're one of the few servers that doesn't allow grinders. Oh well.

I view it as smart play, some view it as unfair play.

 

But you say the server can handle X/90 people, so I never thought it would create that much lag.

Considering I have at most 120 spiders on screen at one time. That's like 60 people killing 2 spiders at one time.

I would totally understand the lag issue if the server could only handle at most 30-35 players.

 

And we don't want to hit max capacity every time you want to cheat for experience. Just because we CAN handle it doesn't mean should just for a single player.

 

Either way the rules say its illegal, i did the same thing with a spawn switch and the whole she bang. the only thing that i dont fully understand is that if anyone can do it, how is it unfair to the other players?

also, i understand the lag issue to the auto-farming ones but just not the lever action/ manual action spawnings, technically a non-lit room is a spawn and then you let the floor drop and viola, lever action farmer. the only difference is the mob types each time.

just a thought from a random player, if admin says no, its a no, but there should a discussion on allowing manual spawners, just a thought.

btw, how did you find them? do you have a program?
