Is there a way that one of the warps that go to the Mesa on the mining world could be moved to a desert? There are at least 2 or 3 mining warps that go to Mesa - which is nice, but none to a desert. The 1 or 2 warps that go to beaches are about barren of sand and sandstone. Thanks
Please consider this for the following reasons: It will help new players get their excavation skill up to par in a short time. It makes glowstone less of a hassle to gather. Glass, and lot's of it, for large builds. There are probably more reasons, but these are the only ones I can think of at this time.
Red sand can be smelted into clear glass, but lots of the red sand has been excavated in the immediate vicinity of the warps, so same problem. A dynmap for the mining world would be useful!
I've been to Mining 1-9 and there are no deserts visible. The Mesa has some sand, but I need sandstone and glass. If I knew where the desert was and it was not that far that'd be fine. But I'm not wandering from one of the warps in a random direction.
Wah wah cry some more it's not a big deal to walk till you find a desert that's a part of the game. Your not supposed to get everything handed to you on a silver palter
One of the ocean warps has a desert not too far away. Unfortunately I forget which on and which direction.
Thank you Magetime for an insightful post. The reality is that not everyone plays mine craft the same way. I normally play single player with Amidst and pick a seed that puts me in biomes that I like. Or I travel to biomes I like or want to build in. Some people like to walk, which is wonderful. Some of us like to build, also pretty neat. Since the warps are there for a reason, there is nothing wrong with asking one to be moved to an area that has a desert. Admins can say no, but it does not hurt to ask. A DynMap or a static map for the mining world would make it much easier. EZ, that is nice, but I think there are two ocean warps, and the direction might be helpful.
Again, if I could remember . If you jump in a boat, you shouldn't have to travel more than a minute to see it. Also, I'm not setting up a map for mining. It would take too long to render and have to be re-rendered every reset.
Just Take the Time to find one, and then set up a warp there, or even smarter, put your home there and set a warp at your home.
I'm confused.... you say you will travel to biomes but you can't for the desert? A Mining Dynmap wouldn't be the worst idea
N2 is saying he picks a nice seed via Amidst, so he knows where biomes are located. He doesn't want to walk in a random direction with the hope of finding a desert, he wants to walk to a desert. That is the difference. Again, I am not rendering dynmap for a temporary world
Thanks EZ for saying it clearly. Ralk75, EZ is correct, I don't mind traveling, but prefer to have a destination I know a head of time. Ez, I also appreciate your suggestions. I will grab a boat or 4 and hit the oceans and then post the coords here. I know that DynMap is a pain, and think it would be a waste of time. Thx and I appreciate the info.
There was a rendered dynmap for a (previous?) mining world back in January.. Dyno added it temporarily. They removed it for a sense of "adventure" (reference: http://www.shadecrest.com/site/threads/5789/#post-76307 ) But in any case, most of the warps are well spaced and give easy access to the biomes. I've made a couple of maps to point you in the direction of a Desert N2Mining : Either go 200m NW from /warp mining7 : Or go SW from /warp mining8 : If it's just about rendering the map, I don't mind walking around to render the dynmap if it was added, but I understand there may be more involved than that. Regards, Mega
You have no idea how laggy rendering the dynmap makes the server D: It is nearly unplayable in most if not all cases! It takes a while also, and a really long time if you want to eliminate lag.
I got the seed from the mining world and ran it through Admidst. Apologies for the lack of coordinates, there's no way to add them as far as I could tell. The green circle in the center is /warp mining1 and the radius is 2k blocks (so a 4k x 4k map). It's up to you to figure out the biome colors because I honestly don't know what they are. As for the black rectangle in the upper left, I had to hide the seed from you dirty cheaters
Thanks everyone. Mega_Spud, I think I saw the beginning of the NorthWest desert from 7 when I used a boat late last night. I was going to confirm tonight when I got online. Thanks also RandomOne for the general map. Its easy to get the coords of the warps and plug them in. I will post the actual coords of the desert I find at Warp Mining7 tonight.
hy not move one of the ocean warps With my experience with admist I could tell you each biome but Im too lazy to type em out. So instead here is a key. w
Okay, Desert is at Mining7 and is about 1 -2 minutes by boat. x=2339 and z=5613 Just a little northwest of Spawn. Thanks everyone. N2
