Hey, It's me! Slebert! And I'm making a game! It will be a hand drawn adventure game, and will have me doing the coding! I've got a writer and an artist and the game will begin production shortly, I hope to have the game out sometime early 2015 and it will be pay what you want! That means it will cost you whatever you think it should cost! Anywhere from Free to an infinite amount of money! Once the game is launched we will also be putting it on steam greenlight, although on steam it will cost you probably 2 dollars for it, but hey, achievements and another steam game! Once we get a reasonable demo done we may be doing a kickstarter or indiegogo campaign with some cool exclusive merch! If you are interested in hearing more about the game you can pm me and I will gladly tell you in more detail about the game! If this is the wrong place to post this, please tell me Sent from Sleberts phone
What engine are you using to create it? I've tried making a game using Blender's built in game engine. It's not easy stuff, but good luck!
I've known that for around 2 - 3 years now. I don't really like it because it's a resource hog. But hey, with a decent enough computer, who cares?
It's also one of the simpler programming languages out there and is taught to first year students in Uni (That doesn't mean I'm any good at it, but still). It's a decent entry into programming anyway, for what Sle's hoping to do. I hope he doesn't forget about this thread and uploads updates on how it's going. I love watching the creative process of new things.
If you manage to create an entire game engine in java from scratch, kudos to you. I recommend making heavy use of lwjgl (light weight java gaming library); it will make your life much easier.
Just some screenies of what I've been working on. Should be done by the end of the day. Hopefully I'll be able to release it on Android in addition to Mac & PC.
Find pixel art type things (I suck at drawing... so... yea..) Learn to code a little using C# Learn how to use sprites Learn how to edit the image within your engine Learn how to create animations Learn how to use scripts Learn how to parent the scripts to the character / object Learn how to enable physics And about 5 hours of wondering why the same error pops up.
I changed it a little bit. It's really not that complex at all, but coding simple stuff gets really into depth and detail.
looks good, but you should do your own art, or get someone to do it. other wise it may be seen as "cheap" speaking of cheap, will it be a ftp game or cost money?
