Posts Being Unfairly Edited

Yesterday Socklord posted a ban appeal and which received a lot of positive response resulting in him winning his appeal. Personally, I am very pleased about that and it seems most others here feel the same. However, when I checked in on the thread late last night I noticed that the majority of the posts had been tampered with and edited to make it seem as though they said something completely different than what the original posters had intended them to say:

I have no idea who did the editing nor whether it was done maliciously or merely as a joke. Either way, I feel it is a clear abuse of administrative powers and that whoever did it should not be allowed to get away with it. Because if they will do it to one post then what's to stop the person from doing it again? Its wrong and unfair to edit or censor a post just because we don't like the person who writes it or we disagree with what's written. As long as no forum rules are being broken, everyone should be able to have their say

I think this issue should be addressed and if it's possible to find out who did the above-mentioned editing and deal with the person accordingly. JMHO.

Just read the post and I agree, whoever did it does not deserved staff powers and should be demoted

I have edited peoples posts before, but never in serious matters such as this and certainly not in this fashion. Personally, I would think it best if the person who did it were to step forward. I can't think of any staff members who would want to do this, but clearly someone has.

 

Being silly once in a while is fine. Ruining a whole thread witch accually had some importance isent...

 

Doesn't seem like a big deal. The posts were edited after the fact that he was unbanned.

 

Still shows a lack of respect for peoples messages and a lack of respect of power.

What if the same happens to a different thread when the problem hasn't been solved yet, and I agree with pie, it shows disrespect for the thread creator and everyone that replied and it also shows disrespect to the server by using staff powers for fun at other's expense

No, Dyno is right. It isn't a big deal. However, it would still be the right thing for the person who did it to at least come forward .

 

T_T Y'all take this too seriously. If worst comes to worst, the person editing stuff can be demoted if they aboose their powers in something.

While i do agree whit you fully dyno and i dont see a need for any action taken or for the person to step forward considering the reactions. I just wanted to point out that i dont like it and id prefer it not happening again or atleast not too this extent.

Oh wow. Well don't know what to say to that. But on the plus side, most (though not all) of the edited posts on Socks ban appeal have been restored to what they originally said.
